benz, i really like what you did to make that pond, made it seem like itd be something that even i could do and have it up and running on a saturday afternoon or something lol. if i had a pond about as deep, would it be ok to make it longer and the blocks wouldnt move? or does that wood around it hold the blocks in place? id be afraid that it would topple over while filling it personally, but i really like what you did there, youve inspired me.

The blocks hold up fine. The wood is there to hide the ugliness.

i think when i build mine almost like yours, i will offset and mortar in the bricks, since it will be about 30 feet long and 10 wide, but just about as deep, maybe 3 feet. i bet that the concrete blocks are cheaper than using bricks, bricks can be expensive, but i think theyd insulate the same, you can always fill in the holes with insulation or packing foam. kinda hard to do if theyre offset now that i think about it. im gonna do something like this though for sure. did you put down a blanket underneath the liner? or what is that. and if you dont mind me asking, how much did this cost you to do?

In between the liner and the blocks is a felt liner. It's there to prevent the liner being damaged by the sharp corners of the blocks. Total cost was about about $400

i wonder if i can have like menards deliver pallets of concrete blocks like they do shingles for roofing, otherwise thatd be alot of concrete blocks to move. looks like all ill have to do is get my shed built and find a good liner with that felt stuff and a big filter and a heater for teh tropical pond and im set, then itd just be a few weekends of breaking my back lol.

great pond, you can keep arowana during the summer/spring fall but during the winter it gets too cold at night for them, i had a smaller pond (premade, 120-150 gallon) and i had to keep 3,4 250 watts heaters in there to keep them warm , it does gets cold at night in so cal during the winter
