Finally found my fish, guess which one. ;)

D -DC- Hey mate, while I'm at it, do you know any way of sexing them?
With the luck I had on aurantis, and these exposing the same behavior, I wonder if I actually may have a chance, once more, or if sticking together and rubbing against one another is just a juvenile thing?

I expected actual fights, and besides the constant trying to take food from each other's mouth, there's no fighting, at all, but I suppose juvie channas don't usually do that, just like they actually tolerate tank mates right now, which they wouldn't if mature.

I suspect your still seeing juvenile behaviour, their behaviour seems to be very much like micros . They tend to be fairly communal with each other and other large tankmates until the 18" mark give or take then turn nasty !

As far as I know there is no way to determine sex visually for this species .

Thanks D :)

Guess I'll pray that they stick together til the end, but i'll be on the lookout for any overaggressive behavior once they start getting their coloration. Even if I am left with a single specimen, it'll still be my Third favorite fish considering I can't keep the first one anyway. ;)

terrible incident , I had seven diplos now I have four, they kill and eat the other three don't know y , do the diplos had to feed daily

Welllllll, my first bite handfeeding them reminded me why I won't do this when they're adults...

20 cm already shed blood in my thumb, and it was an intentional grab, since food was in my other fingers xD

Pesky little fishes, still love them ;D

Lol ya learned my lesson and stopped hand feeding when an auranti grazed my nose lol

Hahaha I had been biten by my aurantis too, but they were almost twice the size of my diplos... I didn't expect them to draw blood. I wasn't even mad, my monsters show their true nature xD

Lol funny story to contribute, when I kept 3 channa micros before. When I was doing a water change maintenance, I guess one of them decided to do a taste test of my palm near thumb area. It was the force of impact that startled me, so fast that I couldn't really tell how sharp the teeth were. Here's the kicker though, I was so startled that I yanked my arm straight up pulling the entire canopy and lids up off the tank. That actually caused way more damage than the actual bite. Lol had two long slash scars on my forearm for awhile. The micros at the time were no more than 35cm around the size of my diplo right now.
