Well, the wifey wanted to go and do some gambling at Cache Creek and I gave her a proposition. I told her she can go and gamble just as long as she is willing to let me buy some Temensis that I've been eyeballing at JoJo's Aquarium regardless if she wins or lose. First, she hesitated and I told her "You must not want to gamble much?":) So she said fine and today I have two tems in my tank.:nilly:

When I was at the shop, I asked what ph he kept the tems at and he said about 6.4. The tank I had at home was about 7.6-7.8 and now my tems are just sitting on the bottom of the tank. Should I go and get some ph down or 6.5 to lower the ph? Or would they be fine. Any help would be appreciate.

Pictures will come soon as they settle in.

I would think they should be fine. It may just take a few days for them to get adjusted to their new home. Don't go messing with the water chemistry, you'll just be asking for problems.

That's good to hear that they will be okay from fellow MFKer's than from dude from PetSmart. Thanks alot

they should be good there probbably just stressed. i know how you feel its really worrysome

I hope your tank is fully cycled, otherwise you are in big trouble. Try plenty of water change and salt to counter the nitrite and ammonia if this is the case.

lol no salt .. but your cichla are deff stressed from the ph differnce. go buy some bog or drift wood and put it in the tank.. the tannins will naturally lower your ph ;) 7.8 is high for cichla i would go no higher then 6.8.... i have kept cichla in 5.3 and they loved it

Great advice. Just stay away from chemical buffers. Use peat, bog wood, drift wood, or any similar organic material to lower pH.

Thanks for the advice guys...I will go look for some driftwood tomorrow cause the wifey did come back from the casino a winner!!!

As for the tems, they are swimming around now.

My Ocellaris have been living for about three months in almost 8.0 (hard Cali water)and have been doing great growing about an inch a month. There's three of them too and they're all fine. I'm not sure if there is a big difference for Tems though.
