My Ocellaris have been living for about three months in almost 8.0 (hard Cali water)and have been doing great growing about an inch a month..

i would definitly recommend to lower your ph... they may look healthy... but you will never get the same results from higher ph, than what the lower ph has to offer;)

What does lowering the ph do to our peacock bass? Does it make them more colorful? Healitier? More active? My ph is around 7.3~ (tap water) which is why I am asking. I was gonna be adding some malaysian drift wood soon, wonder how much that will lower my ph?

Peacock bass come from soft acidic water in the wild. Wild caught peacocks will thrive in these conditions in captivity. I personally believe that captive bred peacocks will not respond as much to recreating these conditions as wild caught peacocks. That being said, it won't hurt them either.
