Finally got a FH

So I have admired these fish for awhile and finally broke down and got one. I'm posting the pic for comments regarding a possible grade and type. I won't be offended by the truth so feel free. The fish is actually more red than the pic shows and is close to 4".

I personally wouldn't jump the calling it a flowerhorn.

Thanks! I love my firemouths. They are really cool fish to watch. Not super aggressive but they can hold their own...

Well, hopefully my flowerhorn/hybrid whatever it is grows into something nice. It has a lot of personality though, so if it doesn't then oh well. I'm sure it has some texas in it but the red and the stripes has kinda thrown me off. The stripes could be from a midas cichlid maybe? I was hoping the stripes would fade a bit as it get's older. It does have some pearling but I don't know if you can really see that in the pic. At what size do festae begin to develop their coloration? I was thinking it kind of looks like a mayan cichlid....

So I like it when people post progress updates of their fish as they grow. Especially with hybrids, so here is mine. Looks like it's getting uglier but time will tell!

I was thinking the same thing. It's in a community setup now. I'm thinking I should move it to it's own tank or does it matter? I was hoping that it would be a better socialized fish if I raised it in a community.
