Finally got an SLR camera!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Awesome pictures! How do you get it so the fish is in the spot light and the background is darker? Is that photo shop or lighting? On camera flash, seperate lights? Hand held flash? Either way you have some great pictures! SLR is the way to go! I shalt invest in one next! ;)

NICE!!! You're already taking stellar shots.

I can't wait to go down there now and we can combine our equipment lol.

lol. Thanks...I am pretty happy with them so far. I already need to get more batteries for my flash. lol. Time to work on other non flash settings. Start messing with ISO.

I am using a wireless flash that is set slightly behind and directly above the fish. They are touched up in PS, but I still don't really know what I am doing. lol.I don't really have any decent lighting in my tanks.

Nice, so the flash is wireless? Awesome! So when you take a picture the flash goes off? That is wickedly kewl! Just set it up on the top of the tank, wait for the fish to come into view..then bam!! How do you focus though? Or is there enough light for you to still do that! Get them macro settings going soon man! Love the pictures! I'm gonna start ebayin..haha..what model is it again? Canon D80 or whateva?

lol. It's a Nikon D80. It has the option for the wireless flash (SB 600). I don't think that it is offered on all models.

There is still some natural tank light, but not enough that it contributes to the pictures, which helps with the focus. Plus, the camera acts as if you are using the onboard flash to help with focusing also.

It would be a lot easier to use the wireless flash if I had a second person helping me. Right now, I just set it in the general area of where I am trying to get the pic and hope that the fish swim near it.

I am still learning though...this is only my second day of owning the camera. lol.

Great shots.. having an external flash takes your picture taking to whole new level. I've been meaing to get an external flash and transmitter too.. But I've just been spending my money on more fishies instead.

Awesome shots. I need one of those. Is it Wurm friendly?

They are definitely worth it.

:grinyes: It's pretty easy to use the basic settings. I haven't gotten to much past the basics, yet. It did take me a while to figure out the remote flash and I am still having some problems with it.
