Finally got my hands on some!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I was supposed to make an 8hr trip this past weekend to pick up some festae.. but the weather intervened. Capt has some spinal and I will be either picking some up from him or waiting on his next trip into T.O. for some.

Sorry to say but those aren't festae, but some amphilophus......but that second pics looks like a managuense if that helps....

Those look like flowerhorn and a jag. They have a bunch of those at BA Whitby (the flowerhorns). I am 99% sure festae don't have the red eyes but I could be wrong.

That's where they came from. Was shocked they even had Jags. I'll have to talk to Jim. I noticed the tank was only labeled for the jags but I heard through the grapevine that the others were "red terrors". I was supposed to go in on the festae with you and saw this price difference. Now I know why lol.

I'll take them back and exchange them for something else I guess :( what a disappointment.

Hey spinal if your close to Buffalo theres a store not far from the border where i got my festae, they always have them. I think someone who works there breeds them.

Thats a confirmed festae (at least according the the guys on here) at the same size

Notice a couple differences, the "eye" patch on the tail of yours is larger then on mine. Its also orientated to the top vs going the whole way.

Im even more of a noob to amphs, i couldnt tell you the difference of a baby rd to midas.. but ive been looking into CA/SA a lot lately and IMO they seem like uropthalmus or mayan cichlid. Not positive though

Also if yours has 0 blue on its tail its probably not festae, in the right light you can see a good amount of blue on mine, I haven't been able to catch it in pic yet though

Every one I've ever seen has had at least a little so I don't think size has much to do with it, other then them become, king more pronounced and spread over time
