the crabs, snails and shrimp were in first, back when i had the 20gal. it was just the pair of clowns with the inverts then i got the niger. i got the niger cause i herd that they were 'reef safe'. after a few weeks the started to vanish and all i would find is parts of husks. then i added my clown trigger, with more inverts. both the niger and the clown ate them. in the resent past i have added some more inverts only to have the niger more agressivly attack them. since i couldn't have inverts with the niger and i opened a new addiction to triggers i got the other triggers to go with it. i'll get some inverts for the sump to go with my blennies, as i don't want to risk them when the triggers are over 1'. i may have a unique niger that likes inverts.

I think part of the problem here is they were in way way too small of a tank to start with. They probably would have attacked anything that got added because of a lack of space. Once they realize that the inverts can be food they won't ever stop. The key is getting the fish young and hoping they haven't learned that inverts are food and will just take your fare as the only food available.

it may have been the 20gal. the niger was smaller at the time of the 20gal, i will find my old vid of the setup. and the clown was 1" at the time of intro. the clown got stuck to the bottom of my powerhead and died later. either way i think that i am better off with it going the route it did. if it didn't eat inverts then i wouldn't have looked into other triggers. personally i would rather have the triggers then the inverts.
