Finally got true Orinos

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
THat was a mistake to sell at such a small size IMO.
YOu gotta wait a bit to see what fish are gonna have the keeper patterns.

True, guess I'm too obsessed with my black diamond rays so I sold 3 for $180. I might even sell off the 3 as I have 2 BD coming and I'm focusing on the big tank

Don't do it!
I promise, you'll regret it.
Rays need tankmates as well ;)

They also need flower pots!!
If you want rays have rays. As stated they do like stuff like flower pots to play with in the tank

Hi, could you tone down on the sarcasm? its okay to post once or twice to make your point through but its starting to get disruptive for the other community members who are just posting about their fishes.

Thank you. and i hope to seek your understanding.

For others, Rays prefer a open terrain with sand that they can bury themselves into & hind to feel secure, (you can't see me so i must be safe, mentality),

From my perspective its a good call that u sold those orinos at 3 for $140, for me thats a hefty price for 3 juv orinos from where i live. i guess if u don't have the spare tanks to growout these orinos u did right to sell them off, as mixing them would mean a expansive snack for your expansive BD's.

Well I wasn't being sarcastic they do like having something to push around and play in the tank in my experience. I do agree with the sand but it is not always needed I usually have a bare bottom tank and if I see signs of stress in the pup I add sand if I feel the need to. It is also hit and miss with having juvies with pups. They might try to eat the juvies or they my not have an interest. D davenmandy has 2 dorado (4")with his 5 inch bd pups and they where trying to eat them on the other hand I have a 4 inch dorado with my 7" and 6" marbles and a 5 inch bd pup and they have no interest

So you're saying keep fish with nothing but water and sand? That sounds like the definition of living hell. Isn't that what a prison cell is? And we all wonder why a fish that stays at the bottom of the river all day suddenly becomes a fish that jumps off the walls and splashes water out of the aquarium. My male even has a Kong made for dogs to play with and fake plants to decorate his tank at his pleasing. Occasionally he'll play with a ping pong ball. Not to mention the price of expensive snack is a risk you take when you keep fish that are highly predatory and can cause quite a bit of damage to your hand if you're not paying attention.

But no disrespect to you as I'm simply seeking your understanding about this poor advice.

Anyhow the Bass are nice and his collection is going to be top notch if he keeps buying fish like he has been.

Poor advice? okay thats up 2 you. I don't claim to be a specialist nor do i have any scientific proof to back up what i advise. Im just expressing my views as a hobbyist.

I was just saying that i feel sand would be a preferred option as compared to flower pots. Open terrain meant more space to swim about freely then as compared to hiding inside a flower pot. end of day its up 2 the owner.

And on the point that wild caught fish have a hard time adapting to a unnatural habitat i do agree,

Stating that there were risk of the BDs eating 2~3" orinos was poor advise for other readers? i don't see how though.

Thanks

Alright then, i was just going to express my concerns once and thats the end of that.

well i keep my motoros in a bare bottom tank, no issues yet.

Yeah its a hit or a miss with these kinds of things, so far i have noticed attacks usually succeed when the fish take a nap at the bottom or are resting and the ray suddenly sneaks up and decided to grab a bite. like always, its a risk when keeping predator fish together. juv's just have a higher chance of getting snapped up easily due to being small sized and ill experienced was what i was trying to say.
