Have any of you guys ever read through the fish for sale classifieds, found that dream fish or bargain filter and jumped on the phone only to find its just been sold? It seems to happen to me all the time, never had any luck... Until today! I love my geos an have been planning to breed my satanoperca leucosticta and wanting to expand my colony of 4. Saw in the classifieds today a guy who is getting out of the hobby and wants to sell his stock quickly. Amazingly I am the first to call and he mentions the fish are around 12 cm long and he will work out the price if I like the fish. It's a 10 min drive so I head down there.. He has a 4 amazing greens but he drastically underestimated the size and they range from 18 to 25 cms! I ask him what he wants per fish since I figure the group will be more than I can afford and he says " 20 dollars each"... I can't believe my luck I snapped the group up for 80 dollars and he is so happy he throws in 2 juvenile pearl horse face for free! I am so happy I was finally thy guy. They are currently in quarantine so will post pics soon.
So now that I'm done bragging, post some stories on when you got to be that guy (or gal) and picked up the bargain.

Lol that's awesome, grats mate! I agree haha, the best deals are snapped up so friggin fast. All those 'free' gumtree ads lol, gone in minutes. :((

I think the closest I got to being 'that lucky guy' was when I was on a train ride and was bored so i opened up fb and lo' and behold', a 10 cm super green texas was being sold for $10. Needless to say I grabbed her right away. >_> Still my favourite fish atm.

I was that guy when I picked up an FX5 for £40, (I don't know what that is in dollars, but it was an amazing steal!) all it need was some new hoses. Plus the guy met me on my way back from work, so I didn't even have to travel! :)
 
I was that guy when someone has a 120gallon predrilled out on the street because of a minuscule crack that was covered the frame on the tank it was literally brand new, came with stand and everything....

i was that guy when i got my 120 gal for 40 bucks, comes with stand, light, tank and heater. One of the top glass cover was broken so i went the got a replacement. Doesn't leak or anything, it might not be perfect but its perfect enough for me! you can't beat that price.
 
i scooped up my big male red devil approx 11 inches for $20 canadian, and not that long ago a lady had an ad up no bs... fishtank leaked destroyed my house come get it before i throw away , so i scooped it up
 
10.5" Vieja Melanurus rescue for under $20.01 a couple weeks ago. It was not in the greatest health at first, but now looking better than ever. Very happy with it.
