well after a long arguement i can get a snake that will not eat me< my moms rules. i went to my reptile shop 2day and they had just got in a cali kingsnake and a milk snake. i choose the cali. its a b&w banded one. its about 1 1/2'. the white on it is the purest white ive ever seen. it 79.99. ill be housing it in a 15g. im ill be using aspen bedding, a 75w heat bulb, large water dish and a piece of cholia wood< spelling??? i have some q's though.
1- do i need a under tank heater?
2- correct temps are 85 degrees high side and 75 on the low side ? right?
3- do they need to be feed live ''moving mice or san they be frozen.
4- at 1 1/2' should I feed pinkies or fuzzies?
5- is a 15g good for life?
----thanks for any help as this is my first snake. ill post pics on saturday when i get him.:grinno:

I'd just use the undertank heater myself. Probably fuzzies and see what they're feeding it. Make sure tank is escape proof too! Kingsnakes are like little Houdini...

lol. ya thats what i hear. it would suk if he got loose as theres tons of hiding spaces in my room.

no,i told her im gettin a rough green snake. they dont get big at alll. but, im bringing home the cali king

Undertank heater with thermostat ok to keep temps in the high 80's to low 70's high 60's

you can feed it frozen, but it might take a few tries if use to eating live.

I would say the mouse not be wider than the snakes body

15 gallon for life on cal king snake? No way

I'm having fond memories of being at the zoo with my mother several years ago and her noticing that the 18' Reticulated python looks rather like that snake I've got in the basement...

thanks, but do i need an UTH. i already have a spair heat bulb and dome?

no you wont need a UTH just keep the temps appropriate, and if your home is @ 70 F constantly you can just shutoff the lights @ night. Get a temp gun so that you can measure the temps and figure out which bulb will be right for your tank.
