If it is 8in in the pics you posted most likely a female.

cool well she is pretty tuff the only fish that pushes her around is the chipoke other wise she is the queen of the tank

Yeah they are tuff fish. You should get a male, they look real nice IMO, plus they get big.
Here is what my old male use to look like, can't find any pictures of my actual fish.

there are 4 cons a firemouth and a dempsey in that tank also so dont worry i am representing american cichlids in the tank
