Thanks for the compliment Jrob. What's your set up like? Lights?

nice! love that zoa colony

Thanks!

pics look good. A word of warning though. Try not to use xenia as a filler. It will take over your entire tank sooner or later. I sell as much as I can and Joe's Juice or throw away the rest and repeat that cycle every 2 weeks.

So far I've been able to keep it under control. It doesn't grow too quickly... yet. I guess I'm not sure at what point it becomes out of control? My brother has a tank set up and I fragged some for him and my LFS said they would take some as well so I can keep it trimmed a bit that way. I am aware of its reputation to take over tanks, but so far I haven't seen that. I will keep an eye on it though.

I have a 29 tall, with a couple different colonies of zoos, some xenia, a duncan, a "golden bam bam", a leather, and some button polyps...
tank has been overrun with red slime cyano for months now...finally going away and getting a green hair algae build up with what looks like the beginning signs of halimeda.. (sp).
But i have 2 T5-HO.. 10k, with 2 actinic bulbs..and moonlight leds.. got it from aquatraders.com

I have been fighting constant problems with nitrates, phosphates, ph, and salinity...

Sounds rough. Are you running a RODI unit?

The cyanobacteria will definitely keep the zoas from opening. I had a pretty nasty phase when I went through it too, and I had to routinely pick up my frag (only had one back then) and shake off the red slime. Then they would open up but I was doing that every few days when the cyano was at a peak.

Anyway, hope you get it figure out man.
