finally taking pellets!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well all the hard work and patience has finally paid off. just got back from picking up a handfull of NLS form a buddy to try out (thanks again joe) and sure as chit he pounded um down. damn it feels like a huge accomplishment lol. he went from an earthworm only diet cuz thats all he would eat up till earlier this week, to now eating any pellet that hits the floor, and finally eating shrimp and talipa. WOO HOO

Always feels good when you get a new ray onto pellets. Can be a real struggle at times.

so how do you guys determine how many pellets to feed your ray?

i feed mine 2-3 times a day. before he was on nightcrawlers only and would eat almost 2 dozen a day. his disc size is in the 10"-12" range.

since on pellets i give him 8 massivore pellets in the a.m. then 4 NLS pellets in the afternoon and 8 massivore at night. in between feedings once in a while he'll get a few chunks of tailapia that hits the floor. i don't want to over feed him, but there is never any food left in the matter of 1-2 minutes.

thanks in advance

Hikari carnivore/massivore sure does stink. But it is a quality pellet. Rays absolutely love it and grow wild on it.

i'm just trying to gauge as to how much to feed him now that he's on the pellets. i have never owned a ray that was pellet trained

It is hard to say exactly. Should hoover up what your feeding in under 2 minutes. Feed 2 or 3 times a day.
