that is an African lungfish, Protopterus annectens. definitely a very cool lungfish, however, it should not be kept with tankmates as they are much more aggressive/territorial than SALs--

Very cool fish indeed..and yes P. Annectens...good luck with it..and like MR E-Americanus wrote, bare in mind ,,it will kill it's tankmates,,
rats, sodding thought it when i saw it.... hmmm, how long till the aggression shows and in what way, will it randomly kill or just in hunt and deffence? so far he has had 72hrs in my overstocked tank with no outwards aggression? when?

back in the day before i knew much about them (and there wasn't much info on this either), i lose two arapaimas to an african lungfish (expensive feeders). some fishes were snapped at, and others were tolerated...it's random and there seems to be no pattern.
African lungfishes should be kept alone--

ok hopefully he will be ok where he is till fri then he's relocated out to his own 5x2 for now..... just hope if he does filp it wont be at my aros!
