that is an African lungfish, Protopterus annectens. definitely a very cool lungfish, however, it should not be kept with tankmates as they are much more aggressive/territorial than SALs--

rats, sodding thought it when i saw it.... hmmm, how long till the aggression shows and in what way, will it randomly kill or just in hunt and deffence? so far he has had 72hrs in my overstocked tank with no outwards aggression? when?

this depends on the fish...I have never kept mine with tankmates so i can't tell what it will do to your fish, but whem my lung first became agressive (towards my hand) he would strike so hard I tought it would go straight through the glass of his tank ......so I do recomend to get it a tank of it's own....

randomly and unpredictably. there is no telling when it will happen, but it will almost surely happen.
back in the day before i knew much about them (and there wasn't much info on this either), i lose two arapaimas to an african lungfish (expensive feeders). some fishes were snapped at, and others were tolerated...it's random and there seems to be no pattern.
African lungfishes should be kept alone--
