It is all location and it does seem like prices on the adonis are getting a bit steeper from looking at various wholesaler lists. Maybe demand on them is up. If you are in New york though, i would think that would be a great location to nab a good deal, lots of establishments in that area.
Anyway, those little adonis look great and i love those bigger spots. I got a 6 inch heavily spoted adonis as a gift with rediculously long streamers. It died while in the care of a friend along with a 7 inch vampire and an almost equally sized green phantom. One of the sadest losses if ever had. The adonis has a great personality and demeanor in my opinion. I assume due to its size, strength, and physical features, its not as shy as others and loves to cruze around.

I should have mentioned that when you hear NEW YORK do not assume it is the city.. i was born in Manhattan... but New york is a big state and i am in the boonies now... haha.. not even a Walmart unless you drive an hour... but i love it, but we do not have alot of the fish stores so they don't have competition..
That is sad to hear about your Adonis and i can tell he is missed.. I wonder what happened while you were away.. they can go quite a while without food but they do require good clean water as all fish do.. mine is healthy and has never missed a meal.. here is his picture..mine lost one of his streamers but it is growing back and i moved him out of that tank in a hurry.. Syn. cat took a nip..not this syn. These two get along great!
My adonis loses his streamers all the time. He gets in fights with a L264 sultan. He usually wins, but in all the wood somewhere he loses his streamers. They grow back within a week though.
I usually do compare but it is hard when you see something you like to walk away and so you buy and it is worth it to you.. and the LF know it.. haha
I bought mine on aquabid from DGA. He only charges 30 shipping. Of course for you that's clear across the country. As you get to tward the east and west coast things become way more expensive. That's why it's best to vacation in a foreign country. You'll end up spending as much if not less than going to say Miami. Your best option is to save up a large sum of money then place a big order with a online supplier. The more you order the, it make shipping more worth it. That and most suppliers will cut you a deal for placing a large order.
