I'm sorry for your loss! Are you sure the clown knife did all that damage? I have 20+in gold clown knife with fish much smaller than him (like 12in datnoid) or 18in rck with giraffe catfish and 12in tarpon, silver dollars, and he didn't do jack to them. My 14-16in clown knife used to be punching bag for my Azul...

100% positive, make that 200% positive :)

The large clown in there was the only fish capable of doing the damages it did to the fish. When a clown smashes a large fish, it leaves a circular mark on it. The clown and arro went round and round, only because the clown started it all.

Here is a pick of the giraffe, the azuls were hit many times, had circle marks all over their body and the clown was the only fish in there with a mouth that big, besides the arro.

Do you have strainer at the end of your intake pipe? That mark looks kinda big to be clown knife mouth

I didnt at first but do now, as of last night. Giraffe is only 15" long give or tank, the clown was 27-28" or so. The very same marks were on the two bass as well.
Honestly, your clown knife can't do those damages. I have clown knife and Azul, and my money will be on 12in Azul over 28in clown knife any day. The suction of 3000+gph thru 2in PVC pipe is another story, though...

What you say makes sense, Ive never actually watched the two go at it, but I have seen the aftermath and the big clown had marks all over its back from the Arro, the Arro had scales on the bottom of tank, etc. I was never in the room, just heard loud splashes and by the time I get there, its over. A few times one of them hit the removable lid, if I didnt have that Im sure one of them would have been on the floor. I still just dont see the filter grabbing the fish. I took the strainer off and put my hand under it, yea I can feel it pulling but it didnt seem that strong, especially to a fish as strong as a bass, it would be like the bass had to swim sideways under it to get stuck, multiple times...just dont know. The knife fish are gone and there is a bigger strainer on there, I actually had one on there that fit up inside the tub, I got a bigger one so its not restricting as much.

Well...looks like you was right...noticed my Giraffe has another circular spot on his tail....even with the larger strainer. So what it comes down too is...I'm an idiot and I traded my Knife fish for nothing, well I got an awesome turtle but still...I had a huge knife :(

So now, how to resolve this?

I sure do with you got on here sooner to notice that :cry::cry:
