Almost there....getting nervous

I did 3 checks to make sure all the threads have tape. So far so good. The last 3 parts I have to do inside my apartment because of how long they are, 1 down 2 to go. Then will let dry for about an hour before I start her up :)

Look at it this way, if you remove the pump a column of water will shower the floor. Input to the pump will continue to syphon water out of the tank onto the floor. Valve....check valve?????

Stupid question.... I guess I do need one. Do I put this one the inlet or return or? I keep on going thru this over and over in my head but not making sense. I remember I did a check valve on something a while back but cant remember what...

If I turn this pump on, and find something major like a leak, I need to turn off the pump but water will still be flowing correct? I cant remove the inlet from the tank because its halfway down the tank and cemented. Im not going any farther till someone tells me where to put this valve

Because your system is closed loop it doesn't matter if you install check valves. Pump goes off water does not flow.
However, if your pump needs to be replaced or disassembled because you want to change the impeller, water will run out. So if you put ball valves in front and after the pump you can isolate. Valve after the pump can be check valve but I wouldn't recommend it because it may prevent you from removing that giant air lock in your up and down piping.

So what your saying, just to double check, once the pipes are cemented, I turn on pump, I find a leak, I turn the pump off and the water stops flowing correct? Even if the pump is lower than the tank itself? If so I will continue this now.

If there is a leak in you pump it will continue to leak even if the pump is off. Pump is at the lowest point...water flows downhill.

Ok so what would you suggest I do to prevent a disaster? Thanks

If you have confidence that the pump and all your joints are perfect. No leaks....no valves needed. I don't have any valves on mine. However, if I were to disconnect the pump I would have water in the pipes emptying on the garage floor. If I were you I would put a ball valve in front and after the pump seeing that your garage has carpet.

Alright, I guess its back to Lowes tomorrow to get 2 ball valves. Im just not thinking here or not thinking it through, I actually have a ball valve on the backwash line. Thanks!

Ball valves all the way. You will be happy when your pump fails and you need to replace it or do any kind of work on your canister.

These pics are the left and right side of my 450. The valves are true union, what ever that means? You can separate the plumbing right at the valve if you want to make changes and not completely drain the tank.

You can see I have two valves per pump/canister combination.

X2, especially 2-in pipe can store serious amount of water. Btw, 10000 Ultima is a serious, bad *** filter! Congrats.
