Finding rocks and wood for your tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I use branches I find. I submersed them In a tub for a week so they sink. As far as rocks I've never been to lucky. One of them decayed in my tank and creating this odd white stuff that stuck to everything. As far as my hardwood, I bought from an aquarium. I've had now luck with finding good drift wood. It usually turns my water a light brownish color.

With Driftwood, you just need to soak it until it stops releasing brown stuff into the water.
With rocks...Just put a little vinegar on them. If it reacts with the rock then the rock shouldn't be put into the tank.

don't know if your piece of wood is wet at the center or rotting.. or both, but be careful about rotting wood. don't know if there's a negative side to the health of your fish, but it will brown your water, no matter how many times you boil/scrub it

heres a very large piece i found sitting right next to my pond! It is roughly eight feet and i have no way to fit this thing in my tank! lol thats my little brother standing next to it just to show how big it is. If anyone wants to buy it pm me. I have no use for it and i dont want to cut it as it is an almost perfect piece or else i would use it. But i also got roughly 300 pounds worth of flat rock all around my pond. Which at a pet store would have costed me hundreds of dollars! But i am getting some nice new driftwood pieces from my friend who is a taxidermist. He said they are free for me! He has some amazing pieces! andrews pictures 868.JPGandrews pictures 866.JPGandrews pictures 870.JPG
