have any of you ever had trouble finding the perfect fish for yourself? i mean its personality and such. i started out with the typical petco stuff then jumped into aros &ck's, which were very cool but too much for myself. my fav. fish currently are my sailfin pleco, clown loaches,sd's and a couple varios cichlids. i have a tank full of rbp's that i regret getting only due to the fact they arent the most relaxing and enjoyable fish to watch. anybody have any suggestions for that great family "pet" fish, if there is such a thing, that might go well with my previously stated favs.? maybe an oscar, nothing over 18". thanks

yeah i guess everyone or almost everyone here have had this problem on the beginning of our hobby. trying to find the "perfect fish/es" for us. its just a matter of time, we will find them eventually. i have a tank with 4 red belly piranha and i havent regret any cent.

i also think some of us here have hard time finding the "perfect tank setup" too.

try guppys and other small fish like tentras thats what i'm gonna fill my 55g with and in a year or 2 get an oscar cause their great

I have a harder time with getting an aquascape i like more than the fish themselves

for personality, i find the south american cichlids as the best.

lately, severums are my favorite for personality. They know you and aren't really shy - they grow fast, but not huge and aren't that aggressive. Also easy to care for.

Brackish fish rule! I love my scat, he comes to greet me when I come to feed.

Asian themed tanks do it for me. My dream tank is a humble little 8x4x30" drilled acrylic with an Asian aro (or 3), a few datnoids (ST and IT), and a few rays (Leopoldi and Tiger).

i have all my "favorite" freshwater fish, save a black aro and stingray, only because of space limitations, and i alredy have my hands full with my gar..... i LOVE my gar, ornate bichir,NGT,mormyrus kannume(cant wit to get pick that suka up this spring:headbang2 ) and of couasre my little flying barb(the meanest son of a b fish ive ever kept, and hes hunder an inch long:nilly: )

i have more trouble finding the perfect "filler fish", to keep the tank looking active, i trided silver dollars, goldfish, and larger tetras and rianbows.....none seemed to work to well.....i was gonna get some of those snooks.....but they all got away before i could buy a few........now im leanin twords just a couple more dats or sumthin.....

ive also changd the aquascape in my largest tank like 4 times in 4 months, from rockwork with plastic plants, to just plastic plants, to just sand, and now with some plants and 2 rock caves.....hopefully one last time when my 40lbs of driftwood get here ;)

I know I have found the perfect fish when I walk into the LFS/private owners house and say..

"I have to have that fish"

I think my mix AF tank was my FAV . But I have never owned a fish more than
1 full calender year . I have ben in the hobby 8 years so I have had like allot of
fish south north east west .
