Finished the iguana cage.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yes he was a rescue. ive had him for roughly 7 years now.

the whole closet cost me around $150 to build. and it could of been done in a weekend or so. but stuff kept coming up, and the closet was in rough shape. but like i said before the house was built in the mid 1700s lol

i think everyone should build at least one. its a great learning experience. i had never really built anything except in wood shop in high school and i had a blast.

yes he is. i have a shipping crate that i am considering converting into a temp enclosure. its prob 4x3x3. im thinking about putting it under the enclosure i just finished. ill knock out the blue board, and replace the 2x4s. should work out.

but the rhinos cage prob wont be as high since they are ground iguanas. he will also have his own free roaming room as well. but he has to get bigger, and he has to chill out some more.

i thought you let your iggs just walk around the house like cats

they roam but they have enclosures for when i am not home and for at night.

also looks like i am going to be making a trip to the vet tomorrow:(. got back to my house from getting gas and i kept hearing him moving around in his cage. i went in to check on him and he is only walking in circles:confused: he did this when i first got him as well and it passed in a day. i hope it passes this time as well. when i brought him to the vet when i first got him it stumped my vet as well. there was no sign of trauma. this weekend just went to ****!:irked:

Oh men:( Hope he gets better! Im also myself batleling with a injury on my female leo back that doesant want to heal:irked: Oh and by the way: a flood ligth?! Never thougth of that! Must be really energy eficient! Can you show me a ad of a similar bulb? Whit electricity getting more and more expensive every help counts;)

well im glad to report that after a real long night he is doing alot better. this all happened around 9 last night and i maybe got 3 hours of sleep last night. he just didnt want to chill out. so he spent most of the night laying on my chest with his heat pad on low. the only way he would calm down was if he was sitting with me. needless to say my dog didnt seem happy because he didnt get to sleep in the room.

but he is doing better. i dont know what got into him:confused: but hes sitting with me right now as i type this. i called the vet and they didnt have any advice and thye couldnt see him until the end of the week anyway. i was on the phone all day trying to find a place.

coura flood lights work great ive been using them for years. i go to a local hardware store for my lighting needs. except for my UVB bulbs. right now im heating his cage and the rhinos cage using a total of 125 watts maybe. the iggs cage has a basking spot of 105 and the cool side around 80 or so. sometimes slightly higher. and the rhinos cage is a little hotter in the basking spot.

they are alot cheaper. around 9 bux a peice. but they will last alot longer than pet shop bulbs. i have one light i have had for about 1.5 years lol and its still going strong.

maybe he was just anxious, by the way he calmed down when you gave him attention it seems to me that he was feeling like a scared little kid that just needed a hug:grinno:

yeah it seemed that way. well i also went in and added carpet to the bottom of the cage and his basking shelf until i can find something better than the tile. it seemed like a good idea but i dont like it.

he seems to be alot better now. he had a good run of the room today. after i moved him into the cage yesterday i re did my room. it was like an adventure park today. he almost took out my new dvd rack:WHOA:

here are a few pics of him that i just took. he seems back to normal. acting fine. i think he was just real stressed out last night.

looking out the window. ussualy the first thing that he does. if theres any little critters sitting outside during the day he will head bob at them lol
