I can get more aros like 2-3 weeks after if so, wont be any size diff then.. But i know what ur saying T1k thats why i spoke to the guy thats helping me import them so i can order more if i need to. And if its to bad ill put deviders in or in diff tanks while i wait. This has been my first priority to sort the fighting. And i got smaller tanks ready so they can be in if so. I got 2 small fluval 104 behind the 2 FX5 was going to use uv on them but im not sure.. Filtration is not problem for me. Since im a plumber, wont be the first time i made my own a filter outside the tank ;) but ill do what i can to make it work and wish me luck i might need it

you may be ok with just 4 :D

its just the less aros you have the bigger the gamble

i would put the UV on one of the smaller filters i run 2 x 25w UVs any split fins or body damage heals up fast with no infection

if you have them put them on

when you get the aros try leaving the lights off for a few weeks i found my aros were fine when the lights were off and the fights only started when the lights were on

i have been leaving the lights on for longer amounts of time now and as soon as the fights start i turn the lights off

but if i run UV on FX5 isnt the flow rate to high on a FX5 for that? I was thinking like 2x15w for each 104?? thats why i got 2 small filters with low flow rate.. Only UV i got spare is a 11w and that aint much. And i didnt know UV helped healing.. I know it steralize the water but not like that

they help with infection as they kill parasites

you have to remeber aros in a com are under alot more stress than when they are kept on their own so the UV can only help with parasite attack IMO

i run 2 x 25w UVs back to back on a pro3 so the water is passing over 50w of UV

ok so u got them in serial.. I might do that. How many watts do i need for the flow rate on one FX5?

i would run 2 x 25w or 1 x 30w 2 x 25w would be better

if you run 2 x 25w in serial run the return pipe from the FX5 to the 1st UV then the output from the 1st UV make the hose as big as possable it the next UV this max flow between the 2 UVs then the output of the 2nd UV go back to normal size FX5 hose

i think i have the biggest eheim hose they make joining my 2 UVs

hears a pic of how i done mine

hoses is not problem for me hehe. I can get from 1/2 to 4" if i want to lol. I use 1" for my UV to my rbp tank. I think most UV ive seen is using 1" connectors both in and out. But ill see what kind of UV i can find and what price they are. I think 2 15W was like 100 quids.
tnx for the info about UV helpin healing, didnt know that.

The key to have a more effective sterlizing by the UV-C unit is the flow rate into them. A slower flow rate will give you a more effective result.

true

each 25w can handle a flow rate of 1700 lph so buy putting 2 back to back its more than enought as the pro3 has a 1700 lph
