I really don't know where to put this thread and I am sure it will get moved no matter where i pick, so mods feel free to put it where you want.

I bought a Finnex 800W titanium heater ($45) and a controller ($32) last September for my 450 gallon tank. I expected to need to add at least another 300W to it, but it did the job just fine. Cool.

Last week I was away for 4 days. When I came back the water temp was 66 degrees. No wonder they won't eat!

Controller had a blown fuse. Hmmm, ok change the fuse. Controller is working water not getting heated. The heater is dead. I can't make it come on when its not in the controller or when its in the controller, and I can use the controller on a different heater.

So I e-mailed Finnex. They advertise a 180 day warranty. I am seriously on day 180. So if they wait 3 days to asnwer my e-mail, I am outside of the 180 days. I e-mailed them on Sunday, and haven't heard back yet?

Has anyone else dealt with Finnex before? Think I will get a warranty out of this? Its not like I can just go to the LFS to get another 800W heater either. I put every heater I have on the tank and after 3 days have the water back up to 73. But all my spare heaters are less wattage than the 800 that was on there.

I've never heard of the company.Doesn't an email have some type of information of the date on which it was generated and received?Hopefully you will get satisfaction wih the company.

Its now been 3 full days (almost 4) and still no word from them.

I emailed them with a pretty quick response (it may have been 3-4 days). I had a broken probe on the same unit you have, the 800w unit. Anyway, they seemed pretty professional, you just need a proof of purchase date. Then you just pay the shipping to get it to them. As for your situation, you emailed them on the 180 day, if I read correctly. I don't think they will mind, they should be somewhat lenient. You could just fight it, emails are date stamped.
Best of luck, and let us know what happens.

Since I still haven't heard back from them I am sending a second note. My warranty is now expired, but that is their fault not mine.

I had three of these fail on me, and lost a bit of live stock by the time i noticed.

3 failed; about 12 months after purchase.

not impressed.
