I Have a Finnex planted + that just quit this morning. Won't start up no matter what, just blinks red. Time for a new light. I don't have plants anymore, just this Tuesday we removed all the soil and plants and converted the tank to a simple fancy goldfish setup for my daughter. It's a 40B so I need a new 36" light. I don't need a Plant light just something that makes the fish pop.

I was looking on Amazon only, since I have about $120 in gift cards. The couple I'm looking at are the:

1. Current USA Satellite $45
2. Nicrew LED light $43
3. Koval inc 129 $53

Thoughts?

For sure it's the power supply? Just a flash of some LEDs sounds more to it than that.

I'll take it apart and inspect it tonight. Probably a bad capacitor or something. At any rate I picked up the Current USA one for $50 shipped. If I fix the old one great, ill throw it on another tank.

Could you post a link to the light you choose? I am thinking of getting some new lighting for one of my tanks, Thanks

It was the power supply, I hooked up a 12v car battery charger to test it and it turned on but not as bright. I went on EBAY and ordered a Laptop power supply brick rated at 15V with a 4 amp output. $6.75 shipped. It should work perfectly. From my calculations the power supply that came with the light was barely adequate for the power draw of the light, which is likely why it failed. So I ordered one with a higher amp rating. I'll try to post some pictures on how to wire it.

I ended up ordering the Current USA Satellite from Marine and Reef supply. They are in the same town I live in so shipping is 1 day with ground.

There are two models the current usa satelite LED and the plus model. I had both and the plus is definitly worth the extr money. Allot different setting but the customized ones are the best.
The regular one meh
