Ok i got him on saterday and lost him monday morning...
OMG!!!! I just got home and Wanted to take some pics and i lot it, i lost my new newt. it climbed out somehow...
I just tore apart my whole basement, worried sick for the little guy...
I moved all the furniture in a feat of strength i didnt know i Had!!, i moved the stand that the 60gallon is on it itself is about 200lb(solid oak) plus the water. i unplugged am moved my TV(52") and the mediacenterpc that runs it and moved it all out of the way, looking for the little guy dead or alive, they breath air i know but they must stay moist..., he could be everywhere, after moving the coffetable and lifting the couches and looking behind every stud and yes looking up too, i decided to think like a newt!!!
*Thinking like a newt*, Hmm, my stupid new owner seems to have left this huge hole i can clomb through, but how will i get out... og this back wall is realy over grown, i'll go up that*chomp!*(this stuff taists good) well out i am where now?, I think i'll just walk around... DO Do dododo Dute DIE DO!! , hmm, its a bit dry out... umm Very dry, Oh crap my lips are getting chaped... I beter find something quick!... */thinking like a newt*
So i staryed to look at moisture sources, i had that yellow canister from the algae out and it sometimes leaks... nope!, there is the water tank at the back, NOPE!, hmm, the londry room... NOPE!. OH I know the boiler drips lets look there... YUP!.,
The little bugger walked about 10'-20' to the boiler just to sit under it... but the amazing thing is that she found it..., perhaps newts smell moisture, I dont know but this aint no dumb newt. I thought it was dead, i had a pail of water ready to revive it in if needed, i grabbed her and she was moist but hard, and warm from the water, i thought it was dead, made it to water but got cooked, i grabbed a peice of lint from her and she wiggled around, so i rinced her off in the pail and put her back, then i newt proffed it a bit, as bet as i could, i got some filter padding cut a piece to fit the back space and wedged it in there, then i got a hairnet and wrapped the filter and put it under the light so now there is no escape!!!
here are some shots i got yesterday.(in the tank shot there is no newt, and i didnt notice yet(18 houres ago...))

here are my tetras waiting to pounce on guppy fry as they some out from the java moss..., evil little things, look how fat they are, i realy almost never feed them, just the guppies...

here is where i found her, snuggled up on the right...
