fire eel and squid?

ok well, its been a week exactly since i got the eel, and he is still refusing to eat anything.....
i tried blood worms
thin slices of squid
shrimps
pellets
marine pellets
....................................................
he swims a lot at night and seems to enjoy when im around and would swim up to the glass and when my hand is in the tank he doesnt mind me at all, ..... .... ..... im lost...... HELP

Could he be finding scraps at night? Are you putting the food virtually on his head? Are live shrimp available to you? That's all mine would eat to start with.

I agree with ACO, they can be a pain to keep lol they are the best escape artists ever and 99% of people have problems feeding them to start with so just hang in there :)

sadly to say no i cant find live shrimp here, and when you say "on its head" lol you mean physically on its head?
i would dangle it in front of his nose when hes in his cave and he would "sniff" it but doesnt usually eat..... he did try to bight my finger gently when i had a piece of squid but that was it.....

how long do i wait before i need to start REALLY worrying? i noticed many articles online mentioning they refuse to eat for "weeks" how many weeks are we talking?
