Hello everyone,

I have a fire eel that will only eat shrimp. I want to vary his diet but he won't take anything else. I feed shrimp talapia deer heart squid clam pellets and mussel. I have had him about 7 months he is healthy eats out of my hand and has grown from about 7 to 15 inches. My question is do you have any other food suggestions or should I just not worry about it. I would like to thank anyone in advance for the help, and happy holidays.

the diet you're feeding it is fine, although im not sure about the deer heart as mammalian protein is not good for fish. you could also feed it some garden worms and mussel. when feeding it new food try cutting the food into elongated pieces and giving it a wriggle as though imitating a worm, the fire eel will definitely take it 100%:headbang2

Mine loves night crawlers and can eat 30 of them but he is 26 inches.

I have seen yours he is a monster. But I can't get any nightcrawlers now they are all frozen.

I only feed a little bit of deer heart as a variety. I'll give the wriggle a try. THANKS.

good luck
and is that your back in the picture? if so AWESOME

have you tried bloodworms? mine used to go nuts for them

I haven't tried blood worms mainly because of the cost . He already eats allot when he gets to 30+" it can get pretty costly.
