Fire Eel+GT With My Cichlids?

I have a 90 gallon with a 9" jaguar, a 7" red belly crawler pike, and a 5" common pleco.

Could I manage a fire eel and a gt, if so what sizes do you suggest?



The tank has plenty of filtration and good lighting. I do need to get some more driftwood though =o

THat must be a female jag for the others to have survived so far.

However, put a GT in there, and there will almost certainly be World War 3. A Jag and a GT cannot survive long term together in a tank that small.

The pleco will get too big for the tank, as would a fire eel.

As the previous poster suggested, the jag will almost certainly want that whole tank to itself as it grows. However, as it has already grown up with the pike it might well tolerate it in the future.

These are of course my opinions, and your experience may vary from this !

A fire eel need a 220gal they can get up to 36" and the jaguar might pick on him.
 
ok, new question then...


would a gt and a fire eel be ok together in my 90?... gt to full size, fire eel to 2 ft or so before i upgrade my tank? if so, id like to get a medium to large gt... what size eel would that work well with?

Yeah that should be fine as long as you are definitely going to have a larger tank by the time the eel is 24" (but earlier would be better). As for size, as long as it's big enough to not fit in the GT's mouth, it should be fine.

just make sure the GT doesn't pick on the fire eel. i would upgrade when he at 20".
