I have tried frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp, he isn't going for the flake I have either. The nearest Petco and Petsmart is an hour drive one way, which I did last night to try to find Ghost Shrimp, neither Petsmart or Petco had any. There are 2 closer fish stores and they never get Ghost Shrimp in.

Thoughts on what to try next?

Well from day 1 he has been swimming around the tank and is pretty active. He seems to like to hang with the yoyo loaches.

So I'm not sure if I'm not feeding him what he likes or if he's still settling in.

Mine didn't even bother with all of the above mentioned. BUT after I got him a dozen ghost shrimp (that bugger went straight for them!) ate them all up in two days. After that I tried nightcrawlers and raw shrimp and BINGO! He ate them.... I don''t know any other methods but are the brine shrimp alive or dead? Seems like moving objects seems to attract the eel into thinking it's food...

Hi...I recently purchased a 14" fire eel and after viewing some feeding bids on YouTube.com I decided to try live nightcrawlers. Less than 24hrs from the time he entered my tank he took one right from my hand. From the info I've read, they are big on worms and that they use their odd snout to root through substrate in search of them. If it's large enough (12"+), try a half of a nightcrawler...if smaller, try live bloodworms, blackworms or a smaller type of earthworm. Place them directly in front of the hidey-hole the eel likes to stay in and wait. It's almost a "sure thing".

Hope this helps.
