I managed to feed my new eel last night. I cut up 2 big worms into pieces. Then I took the pieces and put them into a spare piece of 1/2" pvc. I stuck the pvc down to his cave (my tank is 30" tall) and he grabbed the pieces as soon as the fell out. Then when I repeated the process when I got off work today, as soon as I put the pvc twords his cave, he met me almost half way and poked his nose into the pvc and snatched the worm and darted back to his cave. I did this until he wouldn't accept food anymore (a little over 3 good sized earthworms). Its crazy how fast these guys learn. He is so smart, within 3 hours of being in my tank he wound up in my overflow box during a failed escape attempt. I thought I had them eel proof, but I was wrong. I have since taken care of that issue. And just the way he creeps around the tank at night, like a ninja. I can honestly say this is already one of my favorite fish.

PICS! ;)

Sorry I took so long with pics. It's been a crazy week. so 2 days with using the pvc method and he was meeting me at the surface to eat, so tonight I tried hand feeding. Lets just say he isn't shy anymore. he had no problem eating worms out of my hand. He ate 4 large earthworms from my hand. so now feeding him will be easier and less time consuming. I am very excited. These guys are truely one of the most rewarding fish to own.

His cave. This used to belong to my L52, but he wanted it more I guess.

Handfeeding him, he is at the back of my tank with a 24" depth, so he looks smaller than he actually is.

This is Doug the eel, cruising around fat and happy after his big meal. Sorry for the flash and the dirty glass.
