Lupin or Oddball need to take a look at this imo. It looks like my leopards tail.. but he got chewed up by my filter impeller. Personally I'de treat it with a low dose of melafix. Some of the other marks look alot like what I see with my fires after a tussle with eachother. I'm guessing some aggression with a tank-mate? heater burn gone un-noticed? also is this picture with or without feeding? if not after a feeding. I am strongly suspecting internal parasites.

I took her out on Monday. I started treating her with JBL Furanol 2 for bacterial infection. Here is a picture I took just now.
Spaska died this morning. I intend to cut her open and take pictures tonight. If you are interested in something specific about fire eel anatomy, please say so and I will try to make pictures for you.
So sorry to hear. She was a beautiful fish. She was one of the pictures that got me convinced to get my fire eels. Did you figure out what happened?Nope. I can only guess. I treated for bacterial and fungal infections. It did no good. I'm not getting another eel any time soon. I think 180g was not big enough for her. I intend to try some different species now. Just got my firs snakeheads yesterday(they will have their own tank). I have to say it was great to have this fish. If I ever get a bigger tank there will be a fire eel in it.
