I decided it was big enough at 9” or so. This morning I woke up to find it’s tail sticking out of the FX6 outlet. :( I hoped he was still alive but even with pulling I couldn’t get him out. Had to dismantle the thing. :( oh well. :(

Ouch, sorry bud, that was just bad luck with him offing himself the exact day you were gonna move him.

I'm sorry for your loss I recently moved all of my tanks to a new location and we were only halfway done after 14 hours and I didn't put the lid back together properly because it was so late. The next day my larger fire eel was found under the couch, I fixed the lid then a week later my large tire track eel figured out how to slide open the lid and was found under the same couch so I can relate

Ouch, that had to hurt.

Oh my gosh I’m so sorry! :( :( they seem quite intelligent and are great escape artists. I have read about weird behaviors online including swimming into filters against the current like what happened to mine. It’s crazy that yours figured out the sliding part! :(
