Fire eel

Hey there Eel lovers-----
I am interested in getting a fire eel. I have to ask some questrions first though.
- Would a fire eel be alright in my 150 for a long time? With tankmates listed below in my sig?
-- How would the fire eel deal with a tire track eel?
-- What should I feed the fire eel?

TT + Fire eel = likely dead fire once they hit 10"+ they get very territorial w/ conspecifics.

Fire eels eat pretty much the same things TT's do but tend to be abit more finicky ime.

Should be.

Not well. I tried it and ended up having to separate them. The Fire Eel is slightly larger than the TT, yet the TT picked on him constantly, even when the Fire Eel was just trying to mind his own business.

-- What should I feed the fire eel?

Live worms are a sure fire food. You'd likely be better off to get one yound and get it on frozen asap. Otherwise weening them off live and onto frozen can be a major hassle.

just remember to buy both of them as juveniles and you will increase your chances of success. good luck.

Yes philly, my tt eel is about 3-4'', and the fire eel will be about 4-5''. If i bought 2 fire eels of about 4-5'' will that be a better chance of success?

maybe, maybe not. either the 2 fires will bond w/ eachother and gang-up on the TT or you'll have 3 eels to seperate. imo, and ime you're gonna have to seperate the TT and Fire/s. Hope for the best, but prepare to seperate them. and a 150 may not be large enough. but may be.

I didn't have any fire eels tis past year. i've only had one last year. So what if I change stock often, is that a problem to you? Anyways, I will be trading my tt eel for a fire.
