Fire Eel

Good to hear! hows he getting along with the peacocks? I agree giveing him a day or 2 off everyweek from feeding is a good idea, if only to let his digestive track take a break. He should grow pretty steadily to the 18" range threw winter. at about 16"-20" krill shouldn't be an issue with feeding. But if your not haveing an issue with the worms imo I'de keep him on them. I've tried a handful of foods and nightcrawlers seem to keep mine at the peek of health. at approx 1/2"- 1" per month of growth was pretty standard for mine. frozen foods such as krill are good to get them on incase you ever have an issue with your worm colony, and variety is never a bad thing.

I seem to be lucky with the peacocks because a few people have told me to expect problems. All of my fish are mature and they just ignore him completely. The most aggressive peacock is the flavescent (Stuartgranti) and he does not even look at the eel.

I installed some moon lighting the other day and the eel comes out with that lighting on and swims around with the other fish without being hassled by anyone.

I did get him when he was already pretty big so maybe the other fish did not get to pick on him when he was small so they are not interested.

The only fish that even comes near him is my Ahli but he only does this to steal the worms. He even grabs them out of my hand while I am feeding the eel, I have to keep pushing him away ;-)

This weekend when feeding the eel he came right out of his cave to eat the worms and allowed me to rub his head. Then he rolled over and I rubbed his belly without him freaking out at all. It looks like they can actually be quite playful
