Fire ell Gone (very sad day)

I was going to say that, I've been having problems with mine the last couple of days going into the filter. Its a top fin 60 hang on and somehow he gets behind the bio bags and cant get back into the tank, I freaked out the first time I couldnt find him, I though my pacu ate him. Anybody got advice on how to keep him out of there, I've tried to put foam in it and screen it but he keeps getting stuck in there, he about 18 inches
No he was not in the filter thats the first thing i thought along side with maybe the thought of him jumping out but nothing my RTC had a feast
