a male firemouth may grow at most around 1/2" per month but a female is going to grow even slower than that.

It will take a lot longer then for your 1/2" FM to grow that large. It will most likely take at least year before it reaches 4".

True, mine is currently growing at that pace.

Your 1/2'' Firemouth won't be able to get much food with all of them in there.

My Firemouth seems fine. I think he may be closer to an inch. I will keep an eye on him.
