Firemouth help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks everyone for your input. I was leaning towards bloat. It just happened so quickly. I guess it will be a lesson learned. Thanks again

Update water parameters are fine am 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 10-20. I used the API freshwater master test kit. It's a shame they were the most beautiful fms I've ever had. I'm going to go to the store I bought them and see if any of the other ones had the same issues. The silver dollars and cat are doing fine

Did you test the ph? Could be bloat like fug202 mentioned. Bloat stress can be caused by tank mate stress, water params, water temps, and diet. A lower ph and warm water temps can affect firemouths. They usually are pretty hardy fish, but I have read that they can be sensitive to ph and don't live as long in warmer temps. Also have they eaten beefhart? I read that that can cause bloat as they can't properly digest beef.
Anyway, sorry for your loss.
