Guys, this has nothing to do with water parameters. There is fish that act this way, this is a common problem. Ive had cichlids do the same and my water is fine. Tons of people post about their fish being shy/scared/skittish etc.

Either they are too new and dont know you yet, or you have done something to spook them. You have to gain their trust back. I dont really know a cure, but it takes time. I would just pull up a chair and sit with them each day for like 15 mins atleast and hopefully they will start trusting you again.

Agreed, you scared them at some point and are no longer sure that they can trust you. Start hanging around them more often, move slowly and soon enough they will be calm around you.

Great I love to watching my fish tank anyway.

Yeah when you walk by it or approach it try to do it more carefully and slowly. Any fish that is skittish will freak out with sudden movements. Sometimes even now I have freaked my cichlids out by walking by the tank really fast. Just try and build a relationship with your fish, the more they see you the better.

Reading this reminds me why I started keeping fish.

Seems like recently all I, and many others are concerned about is getting the big, impressive cichlid tank, and doing nothing but checking the parameters and feeding the fish.

I'm going to go watch my fish for a while, and good luck rrcoolj!

I've had the same problem lately with my Oscar and now after reading this and thinking about it I would have to say it started after removing another fish from the tank. They sure hate that net.

I find it's less stressful to net them at night when they are slower and can't really see. I love watching my fish. They are just starting to get alot of red on thier throats and it's funny how they flare thier tine gill flaps. They are very pretty fish with green and blue spangles on thier fins.
