do FM's grow slowly...mine doesnt look like he got much bigger in the span of two to three months...he is in a 29gal and is about two inches. he is in there with 8 zebra danios as dithers and two BP's that are the size of a nickel...anything i can do to help encourage growth.

i've found them to be a medium growing fish in my experiences, not a a fast growing nor slow. 29gal's fine but as most know that the bigger the tank will help any fishes growth rate, also how often you feeding the fish ? and what are you feeding them ? mix the food up a little don't just feed the same foods.

is your tank heavily planted or heavy decor ? you could always remove some of this to make the tank more spacious.

hope this helps you .

feed him krill, shrimp, blood worms, getting him going. Water changes helps a lot too.

i have been feeding him flakes, sticks, pellets, ghost shrimp, and brine shrimp...do water changes weekly 15% i would say. and took the plants out on saturday...he was shredding them any ways. so now it just has on pot fro him to hide in and thats it...

varied diet and plenty of water changes will help growth rate but fm's aren't exactly the fastest of growers anyway. hope you got future plans for those bp's though. :grinyes:

i got a 75 for the two of em set up but there too small to event try to through them in their...they are no bigger then a quzrter at most...try feeding them in a 75...but thanks

up those 15% to 50%s.

hes growing, you just cant tell.

Bigger the Tank
FASTER the growth

My FM grows Medium... likes shrimp... and sifting thru sand

he does like ghost shrimp...just cant catch that many...harder to find then i thought...lfs cant keep that stuff in stock the guy that the store i work with is unreliable to bring them in on time. but i looked good at him today and he is a lil bigger but not to much...

IMO a 29gal is to small.You should get a 55 or more to grow big.Feed them a lot of nightcrawlers,krill and Bio-gold+ pellets.Here is a pic of mine.He is about 5.5in
