I have actually read most of those articles, I love that site. Thanks though, nice to see another fan of an (in my opinion) under rated genus.

there's also an article on T. helleri but I didn't see it when I did that search. Thorichthys is a great genus, in fact is one of the best because they're super colorful, not very aggressive and stay a decent size. Cryptoheros are great too...they're a bit hardier but not quite as colorful on average. still some very colorful species in Cryptoheros, but none match up to a fully colored helleri or mixteco gold.

So is everybody agreed on affins?

Chad

I wouldn't agree to affins. I would agree to inbred meeki, or unintentional/unknowing hybridof meeki x affins.
I jsut picked up an affin this weekend, though it is only a small fish 1" or so , it has tons of blue spangles a very definate spot along the lateral line , which is circled with blue and safety yellow underits chin area ( hoping that spreads across the entire ventrla area as it grows)
Thorichthys are great fish ......but unless you buy it form a reputable source it is most likey meeki. Lets not even try to ID a fish form petco as anything other than meeki .
Please do not call it T affins , go back and find more like it and spawn thme and start selling them as such ....it's hard enough to find some of the less common speciues let along having people "naming" species VIA internet pictures and guess work .
