Very hard decision, they both are great fish.

Personally in that 90 gallon, I would do 1 of each.
:D

Make sure the Severum is clear of ich before you buy one.

Really? You think it'd be cool to have one each? I am going to add another silver dollar, maybe 2 more to make a school of either 4 or 5.
I'll QT it for a bit before I put him in the 90g.

Yeah you could def do 1 of each. Both fish are somewhat peaceful given proper tank space/setup - heck a lot of fish stores will sell schools of both out of the same tank.

I run both in my 75gal community. Really neat fish, very different in nature.

My male sev caused way too much trouble in my 90. He sat right in the middle next to the heater and would nip anyone who got close. But all are different

I had 5 redhooks in a 4' tank and when they reached about 5-6" I had to sell them off. They are too spastic for a 4' tank especially with an agressive cichlid such as a firemouth added to the mix. I tried it when I still had the redhooks. The firemouth took over almost half the tank and left 5 redhooks with 2' of tank. I am not trying to start an arguement and people can have different results, but through my mistakes and experiences I think some people are giving advice that could result in headaches for you down the road.

I can see that happening I guess. I've had the red hooks in the past in the same 90g with other fish, not aggressive cichlid's, though. I may just go with the one severum and 4 red hooks. Hopefully it won't be too much and if so the sev will go into another tank, we have about 12 to choose form between our house and my brother's.
