Firemouth pair. Are they breeding material?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice pair, beautiful color and finnage. Im curious how big are they? and are they showing breeding behavior? is the red always so vibrant or did they color up for breeding? Nice job moving them to a 55g love nest. be sure to post some egg laying pics. Thanks for sharing

Thanks, the male is 5" or so i would guess, but could be closer to 4", the female is 1" shorter than him. They arent showing any breeding behaviour but flaring that actually goes on all day long. :screwy: Yes, the red has always been so vibrant after i changed the sand into dark gravel.
I havent moved them yet, i dont even have the 55 yet actually. My vallet doesnt allow me to buy a 55 yet (:irked:), but it will happen in a couple of months, i dont have to rush into anything..

Thanks again all for the kind words.

Here are a couple of pics of the male fm (pics taken april 2009). He was 2-3"

also a video since april 09.

ENJOY!

They look great (well for what I see of the female).
I picked up a couple firemouths at the small fish store on the other side of town.
My male has grown to about 5+ inches, but the female.. lets just call her stumpy.
They have spawned none lived.
I SAY GO FOR IT I NEED SOME LARGE NICE FEMALES
