Firemouth size

Ive recently been looking for a large firemouth cichlid to add to my 140 gallon tank around 4-5"s but this guy at the fish store told me they only get about 3, i dont think this is true... but if anyone lives in so cal and has one or knows were i can get one anyhelp would be greatly appreciated... "finders fee-$$$-"

Well I don't live in cali but I can certainly tell you firemouths get bigger than 3", more like 5"-6"

Well as most of the websites claims they grow somewhere from 6-7 inches in length.

ive never seen one above 3"...
and i used to have a pair...

I had a male that was all of 6", he was the biggest one that I have ever seen!

The biggest 1 I've ever seen was probably 7" at a lfs somewhere in nh. My girlfriends is about 2.5 to 3 in now

6.5" at my LFS and I wanted that brute so bad but they wanted 50 bucks for him. He still looked very strong.

I had one a couple of years back it was about 6". That's about the max size for them.
