Firemouth still won't eat :(

I've had him for a week now, he just sucks up the food, then spits it out what's wrong?
I feed my fish pellets and flakes, but he spits them both out

When fish do that it means theyre hungry, which is good. Is the food your feeding too big? I would pick up some frozen bloodworms, and if that doesnt work get some ghost shrimp
