Thanks. They were skittish so I put 5 small female cons in and now the fm are all bossy and really active.. no pairs yet but they are starting to get more color.

Oh interesting. Were they smaller/similar sized to the firemouths? I had a female con in my tank for a while but she ended up getting too aggressive. I may try it again now that I've upgraded to a bigger tank and my firemouth has put some size on him.

The cons are like half the fm size

No pairs out of the 4 yet but had to remove one cause he was missing a part of his gill plate. Most likely a birth defect.
