firemouth tankmates

my FM is in the same tank as my FH, its been a month or two and they have yet to show any aggression towards each other..

some people say that firemouths arent aggressive.......... but mine was it was two inches long and it would chase every fish around my not overstocked 55 including my 8in tinfoil barb i killed my snakeskin gourami and almost killed my silver dollar

I've got mine with Sevs Sals and a GT. I've kept Firemouths for about 18 years off and on, and they will generally do well with a wide variety of cichlids . Just avoid mixing them with the more docile species and really large aggressive ones as well. And as always , the most important factor is the individual temperments of the fish your mixing. I've had an angelfish that would hand a firemouth his hind end. do some research first and use a little common sence(like a 4" FM and a 12" Jag is not a good combonation) and you wont have many problems.

Firemouths are aggressive...They fight back against my Oscars and Red Devil. They don't mess with my breeding Convicts though LOL.

could go with convicts, green terrors, jags, was told by my lfs that thay are prone to white spot more than other cichlids, worth considering

Depends on the tank size you have them in. if its a 55 i would get a small combo going like firemouth,convict and something else along that line or even 3-4 firemouths but that could be pushing it.
