firemouth VS convict compition

CON-VICK! all the way FM in my experience are like that guy who can't fight, but insists on getting drunk, growing a pair of liquid balls, and picking fights with every guy in the room. A whole lot of show and not much to back it up. That's not anything against FM because I like them...but they just don't have the equipment jaw-wise to take on other cichlids, but they will certainly try it.

Exactly they don't have the tools i.e. mouth to do any damage to a convict, who in the mean time is taking chunks out of him.

I would still not include cons in my top ten imo. But I have heard tales of Bad *** Cons, never seen one.

I say Convicts too...Firemouths are all bark and no bite.

FMs have a weak mouth structer. A Con by far

Every firemouth I've owned that picked a fight with another fish ended up dead or with a badly damaged mouth. On the other hand, my old convicts use to hold off three 8" oscars without any problems.

I had a male FM 5 inches that was a real jerk. He owned all the other 5 inch male cons in the tank, even sparred to a draw with a breeding pair. He was the exception though. Cons normally are tougher.
