firemouth w/ geo problems

Ahhh the Geo is a new fish, once any cichlid like a FM has established the tank as its territory for any length of time, it is very hard to add new cichlids, because they are a threat, especially another earth eater type= direct competition. (and the genus Thorichthys is basically the Mexican equivalent to S American genus Geophagus.

FM is probably leaving the angels alone because they're a completely different type of fish, FM may see them almost as dithers, or at least not as competitors. But these are similar enough that the FM probably sees the single geo as a competitive intruder. You might be able to put geos and firemouths together in a large enough tank with a group of one or both, but not surprising just two individuals in a smaller tank would be a problem imo.
