has anyone housed these two together? will it work? would be 4-6 severum then firemouths and prolly a pack of pictus cats or maybe a 4line

I have. It works ok. However, the firemouth chase my silver dollars which annoyed me and I took out the firemouth. Severums are mellow but grow large and can hold their own with firemouths
what size tank ???
they should be fine just get the sevs at twice the size of the FM that way they should not bother the sevs.

180gal 72"x24"x24" hard to find big severums around here and would rather grow out the fish could just get the firemouths later
in a tank that large it should not be a problem. sevs grow pretty fast. and like you said get them and get the FM 3-4 months later.
yeah just dont want the firemouth to harass the severum. will a lima get big enough to eat firemouth

why don't you get some Thorychthys elliotti or T. Mixteco blue or one of the otehr Thory instead of the FM.
