firemouths and size

Firemouth are very cool looking,did you know that if they are kept in a dark color tank(for example,black sand,black background)it brings out their darker colors out.my firemouth is only 2 inches and you are able to see blue and green spots/speckles all over its fins and parts of its body/also dark color body. i move him once to my other tank with white sand for like awhile and the color of his body looked like well like your avatar
 
My firemouths had successful spawns back in April and May when the were 3-3.5" long.
 
i've always enjoyed FM's but its so hard to keep them with the more aggro fish i keep. i just gave my friend a really nice breeding pair that spawned for me about 5 times.The LFS had more than a few FM's for a while.

My 4" firemouth pair are currently living with and pair of red devils and jack dempseys all 6-8" a 5.5" green terror and two 3-4" convict pairs.:D
 
i think about 4-5" you shouls get a male n female unless you got luck like myn
 
If you end up with 2 pair of FM's I'd ditch the BP and keep both pair in the 55. Should be posible with enough plants and wood in there.
